Are you ready to really need something?
It has never been so easy to find Shinies as it is in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. You can get your favorite shiny Pokemon without even getting the shiny charm! From Outbreaks to Sandwich Powers, you can do it. However, it can be harder to get some Pokemon to look shiny.
Some Pokemon are just easier to find shiny than others. This could be because they are slightly different or because of how the game’s lighting works. It is up to you if you want to go after these Pokemon, but here are the hardest Pokemon to shiny hunt in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet for those who like a challenge.
Special Breed Tauros
The Tauros’s new forms are sadly one of the new Pokemon that got a dull shiny form. The only difference is that a shiny Tauros’s face and mane will change colors to match their type. This wouldn’t be a problem if a pale Tauros’s fur and hair weren’t almost the same color. Just because of this, Tauros is one of the hardest Pokemon to get a shiny version of. Getting a shiny version of any of the other breeds is even harder.
Because they are hard to find, the Blaze and Aqua Breeds of Tauros are also hard to shiny hunt. These Tauros are very rare and only appear once in a while. You already have a hard time finding one of these rare breeds.
Tatsugiri
People in Scarlet and Violet thought that Tatsugiri, which looks like little pieces of sushi come to life, were the sixth most popular Pokémon. Since these cute fake dragons are so shiny, a lot of people want to add them to their collections, but there are some problems with this.
One thing is that the Curly and Stretchy shiny forms are the same color orange as the normal Curly form, with a few small exceptions. In addition, if you want to use the Mass Outbreak feature, only the Curly form will show up in larger numbers. For the Stretchy and Droopy forms, you’ll need to use a different way to shiny hunt them. Lastly, Tatsugiri can find Memento in the wild for some reason, so be careful when you hunt.
Wattrel
Paldea’s new Electric-Flying type has a shiny look that isn’t too bright or too dull. Its black feathers on its head and wings get lighter and are tinged with purple. The shiny form’s feet are a darker orange color, and its body is a little lighter. From far away, it’s not easy to see, but the changes are there. From time to time.
At some times of the day, the regular Wattrel and its shiny form can look so much alike that a quick glance wouldn’t even tell the difference. They will also fly away as soon as you get close to them, so it’s likely you won’t see it before it flies away and disappears.
Varoom
Most of the graphics in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet aren’t great, but some of them make some Pokemon and their surroundings look cool. Everything about this game feels more real, from how the sun and moon shine on water to how the light shines on Pokemon. Some shiny hunters, though, have trouble with the lights.
A lot of Steel-type Pokemon in the game are reflective, like Varoom, whose bodies are a gray that reflects light. This makes them look gold, like they’re shiny. If you look more closely, you can tell if a Varoom is shiny or not, but if you’re just going by, you might not notice, especially if they’re coming at you at 50 mph.
Mimikyu
Once more, Mimikyu is a Pokemon whose shine changes depending on the light. This makes it one of the hardest Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet to catch shiny. You’d definitely be able to spot a grayscale fake Pikachu going around in real life, but things are different in Paldea.
There are big trees almost everywhere that Mimikyu spawns, which can make it very hard to see shiny Mimikyu when the Ghost-Fairy types walk under them. A normal Mimikyu will look almost exactly like its shiny form when it is in the shade. For some reason, this is very annoying because it makes you doubt every Mimikyu you see.
Ditto, Zorua, And Zoroark
It’s already hard to find these three Pokemon. Because Pokemon can look like other Pokemon, the only way to tell the difference between a Pokemon and a Ditto, Zorua, or Zoroark is to use the Lock-On feature. It’s all good and well, but it gets tricky when you need to find one of these hard-to-find Pokemon that is shiny.
One thing is that these Pokemon won’t look shiny in the main world. They hide their looks by looking like other Pokemon, even shiny versions, as we already said. Because your Pokemon won’t fight a shiny Ditto, Zorua, or Zoroark, the only way to tell if it is shiny is to battle it or try to set up Auto Battle with it.
Dusk Form Lycanroc
The Dusk Form Lycanroc can be found outside of events for the first time in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In the wild, you can find them during the five minutes that Spacebar Clicker counts down to dusk. In the wild, Rockruff with the Own Tempo ability also spawn. The second one is hard to find, and a power Capsule or Ability Patch can’t give a normal Rockruff this power. Because of these things, it’s hard to find a Dusk Form Lycanroc that is shiny.
The chances of getting a Rockruff with Own Tempo are already very low, and the chances of getting a shiny one drop even more. You can try to go after a Dusk Form Lycanroc right away, but they only appear for a short time each day, which is just as frustrating.
Tynamo
To say the least, it’s hard to catch shiny Pokemon that have slight shiny variations. It’s easy to miss them as you play because they’re hard to see without looking more closely. But Tynamo’s shiny form is the hardest to see of all the Pokemon.
The bright blue color of Tynamo’s shiny form is hard to see because the Pokémon is so small. Gen V’s electric eel Pokemon can only spawn in the northeastern half of the ocean, so players also have to deal with water effects that don’t work right. Most of the time, you won’t even see a normal Tynamo spawn in the water, let alone a shiny one.
Family Of Three Maushold And Three-Segment Dudunsparce
The same thing makes it hard to get the shiny forms of the Family of Three Maushold and the Three-Segment Dudunsparce. That’s because of how likely it is that a Tandemaus or Dunsparce will change into that form. With a 1/100 chance of happening, getting these forms is already hard because they don’t appear in the wild. This makes them even harder to find shiny versions of.
Also, you can’t reset your game until you get the form you want because each Tandemaus and Dunsparce has its own Encryption Constant that decides what form it will take when it evolves. Even with Sparkling Power and the Shiny Charm, the chances of finding a Tandemaus or Dunsparce that can change into the desired form are only about 1 in 68,300. This makes them some of the rarest shiny Pokémon.
Authentic Sinistea
This Pokemon has been a problem for shiny hunters for years, and it’s even worse in Paldea. It’s nearly impossible to find a shiny tea cup with the Authentic stamp. It’s already hard to find a Sinistea with that stamp.
The chances of meeting a shiny Authentic Sinistea are about the same as meeting a shiny Tandemaus that can grow into a Family of Three. On the other hand, neither Outbreaks nor Encounter Power change how often Authentic Sinistea spawns, unlike Tandemaus. The only thing they do is make more Phony Sinistea. You’ll need RNG to help you get a real pink mug.
